Welcome

A short review of my academic life.

I am a researcher of the Mathematics Department at Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro, PUC-Rio. My Ph.D. was on numerical simulation of flows with suspended and floating particles, using the fictitious domain approach. My advisor, since my Master period, is Prof. Hélio Lopes and my co-advisor is Prof. Márcio da Silveira Carvalho.
I'm also interested in smoothed particle hidrodynamics, topological data structures, vector fields reconstruction and topological analysis, reservoir modeling and boolean methods. In my M.Sc. dissertation I proposed a new scalable topological data-structures for 2 and 3 manifolds called CHE (Compact Half-Edge) and CHF (Compact Half-Face). This work received the mention honor award in the XIX Symposium of Thesis and Dissertations on Computer Graphics, Image Processing and Computer Vision.

A little bit about my personal life.

I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and, recently, I received Portuguese nationality (thanks to my grandfather). When I was younger, I studied near my house, in a neighborhood called Grajaú, and had plenty of time to play football and guitar. It was a very good time !
In my graduation, I went to the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, to study Mathematics. During this time I was not only interested in Mathematics but also in Computers Graphics.
Nowadays my hobbies are watch football games, go to the cinema, concerts and shoppings centers. All this things together with my girlfriend, of course. As one can see although I'm Mathematician, I'm a ordinary person :). My football team is called Botafogo and my favorite Brazilian singer is Djavan.
